Carlos Sainz Jr. is a Spanish Formula 1 driver for the Atlassian Williams F1 Team. Born on 1 September 1994 in Madrid, Spain, Sainz comes from a racing dynasty — his father, Carlos Sainz Sr., is a two-time World Rally Champion — and has built one of the most well-travelled and respected careers on the current grid, racing for five different constructors across more than a decade in Formula 1.

Early Life and Junior Career

Sainz began karting at age ten, winning the CIK-FIA Asia-Pacific KF3 title and the prestigious Monaco Kart Cup before moving into single-seaters in 2010 with Formula BMW Europe, signing with the Red Bull junior programme the same year. He won the Formula Renault NEC title in 2011, then progressed through British F3, the FIA F3 European Championship, and GP3 with Carlin and ART Grand Prix, before capping his junior career with the Formula Renault 3.5 Series title in 2014, racing for DAMS.
