Following a restructuring that saw General Motors join forces with TWG Global — the ownership group led by Mark Walter that also controls the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chelsea FC, and the Los Angeles Lakers — Michael Andretti stepped back from the project into an advisory role, while his father, 1978 World Champion Mario Andretti, remained on the board of directors to preserve the team's motorsport heritage. The restructured entry, now fronted by General Motors and TWG Motorsports, received formal FIA approval to join the 2026 grid on 7 March 2025, after General Motors paid a reported $450 million anti-dilution fee to compensate the sport's ten existing teams for the grid's expansion to eleven entries.

Building the Team (2025–2026)

Cadillac assembled a team of more than 300 staff across its U.S. and UK operations ahead of its 2026 debut, blending experienced Formula 1 personnel with General Motors' automotive engineering resources. Team Principal Graeme Lowdon, previously chief executive of the Marussia F1 team, was appointed to lead racing operations, joined by former Renault technical director Nick Chester as Chief Technical Officer and several other veterans of the Enstone-based Formula 1 operation. On 26 August 2025, Cadillac confirmed its first-ever driver lineup: experienced race winners Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas, both returning to the grid after a year away from full-time Formula 1 racing, bringing a combined total of more than 500 Grand Prix starts of experience to the new team.

Cadillac entered the 2026 Formula 1 season running customer Ferrari power units and gearboxes, while General Motors continues developing a bespoke, in-house Formula 1 engine targeted for introduction toward the end of the decade — a step that would elevate Cadillac to full works-team status alongside the sport's other manufacturer entries.
